School Environment Improvement Program
ECCA initiated the School Environment Improvement Program to improve the basic environment of schools – the lack of a proper school environment is one of the main causes of school dropouts (especially of girl students). It is envisaged that the enrollment of the students will also increase when facilities (such as drinking water, available toilets and greenery) are improved in the school. Classroom management and the relationship among children, teachers and community also plays an important role in improving the school environment.
The program has also helped the teachers in improving their teaching techniques and practising different ways to make aware children of environmental issues and how to change their behaviour. This type of program fosters positive attitudes and vision for children and their community to improve the environment in which they live.
